No, the postcard to the grandparents does not prove this is fake. He was going to be home soon. Why send a postcard at that late date? He’d probably get back before the postcard made it to her, so why send it? You send a postcard to your grandparents because you don’t spend all your free time with them and they like hearing from you.

I’m not saying this is fake but if it is then it’s the girlfriend’s behavior that proves it. “I tried”? Please chick, you barely lifted a finger! Calls and e-mails? How about trying to see him in person? You know, actually going to his place? She only does so once; otherwise she’d have mentioned how he’s never home.

Plus, she only asked *one person* about his whereabouts. Yeah, she thought she heard him in the background, but come on. She didn’t try at least one other person? Ever? You’d think she would have, at some point, tried to find him in person. You’d think, at some point, she’d have considered that it wasn’t his voice in the background. But no, she just keeps ordering him to come to her.

It’s her behavior, not his, that doesn’t make sense here.

The only thing I’d say he should have done differently is, since he knew she doesn’t really listen well, leave her an itinerary for his trip. It’s harder to zone out on what someone’s saying if they’re handing you something. But if he kept mentioning it I can’t blame him for thinking that it stuck.

I know people who don’t log onto their messenger/emails for a week at a time, on a normal schedule. Why would anyone be more inclined to check it while vacationing? I realize a lot of you live off of the Internet, and society has made it part of everyday activities, but that doesn’t mean everyone follows that.

I have to be on a computer every day for work, but when I do get a vacation off, I generally try to spend as much time off my smartphone, laptop, all my other electronics as possible Fuck that shit, I deal with the Internet every god damn day.

Why deal with more bullshit when you could be seeing new stuff? Enjoying he beach, exploring awesome cities. Seriously, some people need to realize not everyone spends 24/7 on the Internet OR cares about it that much.

All that said, I still would have dropped your girlfriend a line, but that’s just me.
